About 69 MMC
About 210 meritorious energetic young teens with zeal and enthusiasm to provide health care and serve the population at large joined Madras Medical College in the year 1969. Part of them moved to other medical colleges like stanley Medical College and Kilpauk Medical College to pursue their dreams. still in their hearts, they belonged to the same family -“class of 69 MMC“. After completing MBBS, each one pursued further education and served in different parts of india or the world.
The alumni “class of 69 MMC” was formed by a group in this family headed by Dr.K.Ravi in the year 1984. The silver Jubilee in the year 1994 was celebrated in a grand way at Golden Beach Resorts Chennai by then team with Dr. Rajendran as President, Dr. Premraj as secretary and Dr. Anantharagavan as Treasurer. Since then, the alumni have met regularly in chennai once in three months and travelled to different parts of the world or india every year. During 2007, Dr. Balasubramanian and Dr. Shyamsundar took over as secretaries and Dr. Nandakumar as Treasurer took the bonding to greater heights. 2019 being the golden jubilee year of joining MMC, a grand get-together was organised with one day in chennai and five days in srilanka.
“Class of 69 MMC” continues to help medical education in madras Medical College. In 2009, an e-library was donated to Madras Medical College with 15 computers, and subscription to many journals was provided.
In the year 2020, ‘Class of 69 foundation ‘, a non-profit organisation was formed to promote medical education and research.
